Abstract
There is unchallenged evidence that cancer chemotherapy has made progress in many tumors since the mid-1970s. In particular, certain neoplasms can now be cured only after the administration of adequate polydrug regimens. New strategies have been proposed and applied during the past 10 years to improve the clinical results in various tumors. These consist mainly in adjuvant chemotherapy for patients at high risk of recurrence following standard locoregional treatment, and in the delivery of non-cross-resistant regimens to overcome the problem of primary cell resistance.
