Abstract

The sleep apnea syndromes (SAS) are complex diseases which are caused by an increased number of apneas during sleep. The symptoms and findings which are specific for SAS can be reversed via a successful therapeutic reduction of the apneas if the disease is diagnosed during its early stages.
