Zytologie beschäftigt sich mit der Untersuchung der Zelleigenschaften, die sich aus der Interpretation des Aussehens der Zelle ergeben. Voraussetzung für die richtige Interpretation ist die Gewinnung einer ausreichenden Menge repräsentativen Materials, das mit einem Minimum von Artefakten belastet ist.
