Zusammenfassung
Verletzungen des Ellbogengelenkes können sehr unterschiedliche Funktionsstörungen zur Folge haben. Das weitaus am häufigsten beobachtete Phänomen ist die posttraumatische Gelenksteife; diese beinhaltet den Verlust eines Teils des natürlichen Bewegungsumfangs. In den meisten Fällen ist eine Bewegungsrichtung mehr betroffen, so daß man zur Unterscheidung von einer residualen Flexionskontraktur bzw. einer Extensionskontraktur sprechen kann. Auch Kombinationen von beiden werden nicht selten angetroffen, wobei nur noch ein geringer Gelenkaussschlag im mittleren Bereich des natürlichen Bewegungsumfangs möglich ist. Bedeutsam ist, daß die Gelenksteife im Gegensatz zu anderen Folgeerscheinungen nach nahezu allen Verletzungsmustern in Gelenknähe in einem bestimmten Prozentsatz beobachtet werden kann, sich also nicht zwingend mit einer speziellen Verletzungsart erklären läßt. Aus den in der Literatur erhältlichen Daten wird vielmehr deutlich, daß weniger das spezielle Verletzungsmuster oder die Art der operativen Versorgung in erster Linie für die Einsteifung angeschuldigt werden können, sondern vielmehr die Zeitdauer der Gelenkimmobilisation.
