Abstract
A prototype for an Automated Facial Recognition Access Control System was built to research the feasibility of using such a system, in conjunction with bar-coded identification cards, to reduce manpower requirements for guarding sensitive areas. Testing of the prototype system showed that the concept is feasible and that the achieved accuracy is adequate for most access control applications.
