Zusammenfassung
Polysialyliertes NCAM (PSA-NCAM) ist eine dynamisch regulierte posttranslationell modifizierte Form des neuralen Zelladhäsionsmoleküls (NACM), die fast ausschließlich während der Embryonalentwicklung zu finden ist [1]. Postnatal ist die Expression von PSA-NCAM normalerweise auf wenige neuronale Bereiche anhaltender Plastizität und regenerierendes Nervengewebe beschränkt [2, 3]. Die Polysialylierung verändert die Bindungseigenschaften von NCAM und beeinflußt durch eine Vergrößerung des Interzellulärraumes auch die Bindungseigenschaften anderer Adhäsionsmoleküle [4]. PSA-NCAM ist nicht ausschließlich zellmembranständig, sondern erscheint auch im Serum, wo es quantitativ nachgewiesen werden kann [5].
