Zusammenfassung

Der Grund für einen Besuch beim Hausarzt oder Internisten liegt üblicherweise im Vorliegen von körperlichen Beschwerden. Bei durchschnittlich mindestens jedem fünften Arztbesuch lassen sich für diese körperlichen Beschwerden jedoch keine organischen Ursachen ausmachen. In einer Arbeit von Kroenke und Mangelsdorff (1988) wurde untersucht, inwiefern sich die häufigsten Einzelsymptome in Arztpraxen ausreichend organisch erklären lassen. Aus Abb. 1.1 wird deutlich, daß gerade bei diesen Spitzenreitern der körperlichen Beschwerden in der Mehrzahl der Fälle keine körperliche Grunderkrankung die Symptome erklärt. Die organischen Krankheitsbilder, für die der Arzt in seinem Studium schwerpunktmäßig ausgebildet wird, sind somit nur zu einem geringen Teil Ursache dieser häufig mit Arztbesuchen verbundenen Symptome.
