Abstract
Whereas spatial tactics involve the application of pressure and resistance to control spatial volumes, tissue tactics are concerned with the application of forces to displace, divide, and unite tissues. For atraumatic tissue manipulations such as grasping, it is desirable for the forces to be applied over the largest area possible, as determined by anatomic constraints. For procedures that create lesions in tissues, such as sectioning, the forces should be applied over the smallest area possible.1
