Kompressionssyndrome peripherer Nerven

Zusammenfassung

Sobald ein Nervenengpaßsyndrom diagnostiziert ist und damit der betroffene Nerv und die Höhe seiner Läsion feststehen, stellt sich die Frage der angemessenen Behandlung dieser Erkrankung. Sie kann konservativ oder operativ sein. Die Entscheidung für die eine oder andere Therapieform hängt von verschiedenen Faktoren ab: Vom Ausmaß der subjektiven Beschwerden und neurologischen Ausfälle, vom betroffenen Nerven und der Ursache der Nervenstörung. Das Alter des Patienten spielt hingegen eine höchstens untergeordnete Rolle. Hohes Alter spricht keinesfalls gegen eine Operation, und ihr Ergebnis ist grundsätzlich nicht schlechter als bei jüngeren Patienten. Einzelheiten der Therapie werden bei den verschiedenen Engpaßsyndromen abgehandelt, im folgenden sollen nur allgemeine Grundlagen angesprochen werden.
