Abstract
The phenotype of an individual for a qualitative trait is the class into which that individual’s phenotype falls. But metric traits are measured, rather than classified. The phenotype of the ij-th individual in a population with regard to a given metric trait is the value of the trait measured in individual ij, Pij.
