Abstract

This review is concerned with regulatory aspects of plant development. Control by external and internal factors may take place at different levels of organisation. It includes gene expression, translation and a great variety of posttranslational mechanisms. Emphasis is laid upon environmental stimuli excerting development control in higher plants. Hormonal aspects, especially in relation to growth, are covered in a parallel review (DÖRFFLING 1986).
