Operative Ultrasound in Hepatic Surgery

Abstract

The liver can be examined through any incision which permits the surgeon’s hand to be placed between the liver and the diaphragm. Adhesions or displacement of the round ligament to the right by hepatic atrophy are factors which can interfere with a proper examination. In general, however, the liver can be studied thoroughly even through an infra-umbilical midline incision.
