Abstract

We are engaged in a molecular biological analysis of the presumptive role of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the pathogenesis of human hepatocellular carcinoma. This article is mainly about our own results obtained with the PLC/PRF/5 cell line, but I will also try to put our data in a more general context by including results from other groups, some of which were presented at a recent conference on the molecular biology by hepadnaviruses held in Cold Spring Harbor in May 1985.
