Zusammenfassung

Existierende Betriebssysteme in Rechnernetzen bieten für die Implementierung verteilter Datenbanksysteme meist nur sehr unzureichende Funktionen an. Die angebotenen Dienste unterstützen meist lediglich den Transport von Nachrichten zwischen den Rechnern. Es wird daher vorgeschlagenen, Betriebssysteme um einige zusätzliche Mechanismen zu erweitern. Auf Grund ihrer Allgemeinheit sind diese Mechanismen teilweise auch zur Unterstützung der verteilten Verarbeitung in anderen Anwendungssystemen geeignet.
