Abstract
Hydrogeological investigations in superdeep wells are associated with great technical and methodological difficulties. For instance, high temperatures and pressures encountered in the well 1-Ernest R. Beiden (see Fig. 1.1), drilled to a depth of 9159 m, did not allow the application of a formation tester. Nevertheless, studies performed in superdeep wells provide interesting and unexpected results. For instance, in the Minibayev well No. 20000, an inflow of strongly gas-containing mineralized water (283 g l-1) of 120 m3 day-1 yield was produced in testing an interval of 4703–5099 m; water was saturated by gas of hydrogen-hydrocarbon composition.
