Abstract

Sources of pest-related research results used to answer farmer problems and questions are numerous in the midwestern states and because of this, those involved in information dissemination are numerous. Many farmers in midwestern states and most agricultural suppliers’ personnel have one or more college degree. The formal education level of farmers and farm supply personnel enhances the educational process required for updating farmers and their suppliers’ personnel in the Midwest. Information gets to the farmer in many ways involving people in both public and private employment. Many educational programs for farmers result from the combined efforts of plant pathologists, entomologists, weed scientists, and others with pest information, including those interested in rodents and birds. Midwestern farmers frequently obtain information on the same subject from several sources before making decisions.
