Abstract

History. The use of the term dentinoma to describe a variant of the so-called mixed odontogenic tumors, remains controversial. The existence of the tumor was first reported in 1936 (Straith, quoted in Lucas 1964). Dentinomas are obviously very rare. For example, a series of 39 mixed odontogenic tumors taken from the files of the Mayo Clinic did not contain one dentinoma (Cina et al. 1961).
