Abstract

History. Jaffé suggested in 1926 that certain forms of the bony lesions then referred to as “ostitis fibrosa generalisata” that were unaccompanied by altered serum calcium levels and by parathyroid adenoma represented a special type of bone tumor (quoted in Dominok and Knoch 1977).
