Abstract

In the sense of “Positive Interpretations,” I do not want depression to be understood simply as “the feeling of being depressed, with predominantly passive attitude.” It also reflects the ability to react with deep emotionalism. Fear of loneliness is not just the inability to get along on one’s own; it also represents a strongly expressed need to develop relationships with other people. An example of these positive interpretations can be found in the following dialogue with a thirty-two-year-old married woman, a patient suffering from severe depression.

When a man is able to insult with a smile, he is worthy to become a leader.
