Zusammenfassung

Solange noch Patienten im Schock oder an dessen Folgen versterben, bleibt die Schockforschung Aufgabe der experimentellen Chirurgie im weitesten Sinne. In den letzten Jahren wurde klar erkennbar, daß der Pathomechanismus derjenigen Veränderungen, die in der Zeit zwischen erfolgreicher Primärtherapie nach dem Schockereignis und der klinischen Manifestation von Funktionsstörungen einzelner Organe bis hin zum Multiorganversagen auftreten, nur aufzuklären sein wird, wenn neue, die Fächer der Grundlagen- und angewandten Forschung übergreifende Forschungskonzepte entwickelt werden.
