Zusammenfassung
Die Lebertransplantation ist heute ein allgemein akzeptiertes Behandlungsverfahren. Ihre Ausführung setzt experimentelle und klinische Erfahrung bzw. eine spezifische Ausbildung sowie die entsprechenden Möglichkeiten der Intensivtherapie voraus. Gegenwärtig existieren in Nordamerika über 20 und in Europa an die 30 Arbeitsgruppen, die klinische Lebertransplantationen durchgeführt haben. Nur wenige verfügen bislang über eine größere Zahl von Patienten, die Einschätzungen und allgemeingültige Schlußfolgerungen zulassen. An erster Stelle ist das Team um Starzl zu nennen, das mit über 500 Transplantationen zweifellos über die größten Erfahrungen verfügt [18,22]. Jeweils über 30 Transplantationen wurden in Cambridge, Hannover, Minneapolis, Groningen, Montpellier, Memphis, Wien und Berlin (Charité) vorgenommen.
