Abstract

The Slavic language area is located in central and eastern Europe. Slavic languages are spoken in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, the Soviet Union, and Yugoslavia. These countries have had different histories and have developed their cultures under different influences. Therefore, psychiatry also went through a different evolution, and only in the past 2–3 decades have common features become more important. Similar political atmosphere with the official acceptance of Marxist materialism has had a determinant role in this development.
