Ingenieurgeologische Probleme im Grenzbereich zwischen Locker- und Festgesteinen

Summary

In the course of this project a great number of electromagnetic profilings, soundings and measurements in boreholes and in the laboratory were carried out. Most of the investigations were done in soils some also in solid rock.

In the initial phase of the work only a small part of our techniques were available. Therefore major developments of highfrequency devices for the laboratory and field measurements were necessary.

The numerous results of the elctromagnetic measurements can be summarized with certain simplifications in one important aspect. Essentially, the results depend on the water content of the material and the dissolved ions. As the electromagnetic properties strongly depend on the water content and the dissolved ions, the electromagnetic and the d.c. resistivity of soils and solid rock are related with each other. The properties of the samples were measured in the laboratory in the frequency ränge from 10 Hz to 100 MHz. With few exceptions, the resistivity of the samples at 10 Hz is equal to their d.c. resistivity with sufficient accuracy.
