Rhesus Incompatibility and Nonimmunologic Hydrops Fetalis

  • Chapter
Ultrasound Diagnosis in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Abstract

Rh incompatibility provides a good example of how a disease process can be elucidated and to some extent controlled through interdisciplinary cooperation — in this case between obstetricians, pediatricians, and serologists. Within a period of 30 years it has been possible to explain the pathogenesis of this disorder, develop reliable diagnostic methods, and find effective therapeutic measures.
