Abstract

The early diagnosis of multiple pregnancy is based on the demonstration of two or more gestational sacs, and can be made as early as 5 weeks gestation. By 1976, Campbell et al. were able to diagnose quintuplets by ultrasound at 8 weeks. The earliest we have been able to detect a multiple pregnancy was at 5 weeks.
