Abstract
The thyroid follicles (1) are spherical, ovoid, or tubular structures, lined by a simple epithelium (2) of varying thickness. Unmyelinated nerve fibers (3) and arterioles (4) occur in the interfollicular connective tissue. The arterioles form a dense capillary network (5) around the follicle, through which every epithelial or thyroid follicular cell is in contact with the blood circulatory system.
