Class II HLA Antigens in Benign and Malignant Lesions of Melanocytic Origin

  • Chapter
HLA Class II Antigens

Abstract

Following the unexpected detection of immunologically functional class II HLA antigens on melanoma cells in long–term culture [1, 2], several investigators have analyzed the expression of these antigens by surgically removed benign and malignant lesions of melanocytic origin [3–6]. These studies have been facilitated by the availability of monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) which have contributed to the application of immunohistochemical techniques.
