Die Entwicklung einer chronisch posttraumatischen Osteomyelitis ist in ihrer Pathogenese bis heute nicht eindeutig geklärt. Wie bei anderen chronischen Erkrankungen deutet vieles auf Veränderungen im Immunsystem hin.
