Resistance

Book cover Boophilus microplus

Abstract

Resistance is the development of a condition, in a population of ticks and other arthropods, that permits toleration of toxic doses otherwise lethal to members of a normal population of the same species. The concept of resistance is described by FAO in this simple and concise definition which, in essence, is the capacity that living beings have to adapt some of their many variables to a change of medium or environment, thus ensuring the survival of the species.
