Abstract
Burnout or treatment fatigue has been loosely identified in both children and parents who undergo home peritoneal dialysis regimens. “Burnout” refers to a condition of stress within the child’s family constellation which makes the CAPD/ CCPD regimen intolerable. In our experience with 70 families, burnout has been an inevitability. The variables are: when will it occur? in what form will it be manifested and how long will it last?
