Dynamical Aspects in the Noise-Induced Freedericksz Instability
The role of the internal and external fluctuations in certain dynamical aspects associated with the so-called Freedericksz transition corresponding to a nematic liquid crystal under twist deformation is analyzed . The external fluctuations come from the applied magnetic field viewed as a random control parameter. Owing to its nonlinearity we are faced with very interesting features concerning the appropiate formulation of the model via a Langevin or a Fokker-Planck equation . Moreover, the global (internal), fluctuations of the system are taken into account through a time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau approach (TDGL).
