Air Pollution by Photochemical Oxidants

Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 52))

Abstract

Photochemical oxidants are a widely distributed, complex array of compounds that may co-occur on either a local or regional scale with other pollutants emitted from various sources. Consequently, plants grown in the natural environment are seldom exposed to single pollutants, but rather to varying combinations and concentrations of several atmospheric components. Thus, when assessing the responses of plants in the field, the effects of pollutant combinations should be considered in addition to the impacts of individual pollutants.
