Strata-Bound Low Temperature Pb-Zn-Ba±F Deposits in Carbonate Rocks of Western Asia: Geotectonic Setting and Main Metallogenic Features

  • Conference paper

Abstract

Strata-bound Pb-Zn-Ba±F deposits and their geotectonic setting in Western Asia are described. Main metallogenic zones are indicated and include the Kopeh Dag-Hindu Kush metallogenic zone, the Alborz metallogenic zone and the West Central Iranian metallogenic zone; the margins of central Iranian ophiolite-melange zones comprise significant Mesozoic carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn±Ba deposits. Recent discoveries have been made along the metallogenic zone related to the northwestern margin of the Indo-Pakistan plate. The various zones display common features, including mineral associations, regional structural control, and shape and size of regional metallogenic units. Zonation of mineral distribution as well as correlation with other regional metallogenic units are considered.
