Abstract
The original analysis for the inhalation method of measuring regional Cerebral Blood Flow (rCBF) was described solely in terms of compartmental analysis, and did not mention other possible flow indices (Obrist et al. 1975). At the same time, however, a problem was discovered in the use of the k1 (or f1) parameter, and an Initial Slope Index (ISI) was adapted from the intraarterial injection method (Olesen et al. 1971) and suggested as more reliable than f1 under certain conditions, for inhalation studies (Risberg et al. 1975).
