Abstract

At the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Kantonsspital St. Gallen, Switzerland, we perform between 5000 and 5500 operations yearly, or an average of 15 operations daily, divided equally between general orthopedic procedures and trauma surgery. The elective procedures are all done on weekdays, so that 25–30 operations on a given work day are not unusual.
