Abstract

Considerable advances have been made in transluminal coronary angioplasty (Mock et al. 1982) since Grüntzig introduced the technique in 1977 (Grüntzig et al. 1977). Once steerable dilatation catheters became available to treat difficult-to-reach stenoses, cases of multiple-vessel disease were gradually added to the patient population.
