Abstract
Throughout this book, we use the International System of units (SI): meter, kilogram, second, and ampere, or Si-derived units with prefixes ranging from pico (10−12) to tera (1012). Only occasionally are other units used, in particular within figures adopted from the literature. One main advantage of SI units is the equivalence between the units of mechanical and electric energy: 1 joule = 1 watt × second.
