Antigen Report: HLA-Aw34

Abstract

During the Sixth International Histocompatibility Workshop the formerly determined “long Malay,” HLA-A10.3, and F26 antigens were designated Aw34 [1]. At the Eighth Workshop Aw34 could only be defined by complex “A10-cross-reactive” sera containing Aw34 reactivity. Moreover, it appeared difficult to define Aw34 in the presence of A25 or A26 [2]. The frequency was 1.0% in Caucasoids, 12.5% in Negroes, and 1.9% in Orientals in the Eighth Workshop material.
