Zusammenfassung
Die Mukoviszidose ist die häufigste angeborene Stoffwechselerkrankung. Kinderchirurgen kennen sie als Grundkrankheit beim Mekoniumileus oder beim Analprolaps im Kindesalter. Zwar wird die Mukoviszidose in Lehrbüchern meist unter den Erkrankungen der Bauchspeicheldrüse aufgeführt, wo sie zur zystischen Pankreasfibrose führt; Krankheitsverlauf, Lebensqualität und Lebenserwartung werden aber entscheidend von den Veränderungen im Bereich des Bronchialsystems geprägt. Infolge der erhöhten Viskosität des Bronchialsekrets kommt es zu chronisch rezidivierenden Bronchitiden und Peribronchitiden, zu bronchopneumonischen Infiltraten und Bronchiektasen sowie zum obstruktiven Emphysem.
