Abstract
An evaluation of the mechanical and physical parameters involved in the injection of cardioplegia was undertaken in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass operations in whom the same cardioplegic solution was used. The purpose of this report was to investigate ideal flow patterns, pressures, time to arrest, and temperature changes obtained in the administration of clear cardioplegia. Reestablishment of spontaneous normal cardiac rhythm and elevation of cardiac isoenzymes were also investigated.
