Zusammenfassung

Die Häufigkeit des malignen Melanoms steigt weltweit an (Elwood u. Lee 1975). In Queensland/ Australien ist zwischen den Jahren 1966 und 1976 die Erkrankungshäufigkeit von 17 auf 33 Fälle/ 100000 Einwohner/Jahr angestiegen (Davis 1981). Aus Norwegen berichtet Magnus (1973) zwischen den Jahren 1955 und 1970 eine Zunahme um 264%. Neben der Anzahl der Erkrankungsfälle ist auch die Melanomsterblichkeit in den letzten Jahren sprunghaft gewachsen. Wagner u. Becker (1982) haben die Melanomsterblichkeit in Deutschland und 9 anderen zentraleuropäischen Ländern näher analysiert. In dieser Untersuchung konnte gezeigt werden, daß die durchschnittliche Sterberate beim malignen Melanom bei Männern von 0,49/100000 Einwohner im Jahre 1956 auf 1,62/100000 Einwohner im Jahre 1975 angestiegen ist. Bei Frauen stieg sie von 0,41 auf 1,19/100000 Einwohner/Jahr.
