Zusammenfassung

Während in den Anfängen der Beatmung die technische Applikation von Atemarbeit, z. B. bei Patienten mit Poliomyelitis und Myasthenia gravis, im Vordergrund stand, ist in den letzten Jahren zunehmend die Behandlung der Lungenparenchymveränderungen in den Mittelpunkt der therapeutischen Bemühungen gerückt.
