Abstract

In order to obtain uniform populations derived from the MDCK cell line, the technique of centrifugal elutriation has been used. Seven cell types, which differ from each other by their size have been subcultured and characterized with regards to their morphology and stimulation of adenylate cyclase. The latter is inducible by isoproterenol in a rapid and dose dependent way. The smallest cells are the most sensitive to isoproterenol; the increase of enzyme activity brought about by these cells is higher than that of the original cell line.
