Abstract
The purpose of this contribution is to provide an overview of the medical aspecls of radiation injury resulting from various types of accidents. To facilitate preparations for dealing with the potential radiation accident problems of Ihe future, emphasis will bc given to those considerations which are most relevant for the practitioners of emergency medicine, who will have to deal primarily with the early management of radiation problems and will not have had specialized training in this field.
