Abstract

In analogy with the formula for the resistance to an electric current (R = E/I), hemodynamic resistance in the circulatory system is:
$${\rm{R = }}{{\rm{P}} \over {\rm{Q}}}$$

where R is resistance, P is mean pressure and Q is the flow or perfusion rate.
