Traumatology of the Skull Base

Abstract

Zülch (1968) classifies the mechanism of injuries to the skull base and brain as follows:

  1. 1

Sharp injuries, i.e. massive impact on a small area (injury with a sharp or tapered object)

  2. 2

    Tangential injuries.

    1. a)

The moving skull is hit over a large area.

    2. b)

The skull is immobile at the time of injury.
