Abstract
Low-dose heparin and dextran are at present the two therapeutic alternatives for thromboprophylaxis with the most comprehensive scientific documentation. Yet, there are relatively few studies comparing the two methods. Table 41 summarizes the available investigations with respect to the incidence of venous thrombosis. Control series are lacking in five of these studies, making it somewhat difficult to obtain a complete picture.
