Da es den Übergang einer echten akuten Polyarthritis (rheumatisches Fieber) in eine echte chronische Polyarthritis nicht gibt, entfallen folgerichtig die Krankheitsbezeichnungen „sekundär chronische Polyarthritis“ und die der „primär chronischen Polyarthritis“ (Matides 1975).
