Zusammenfassung

Allopurinol hemmt die Xanthinoxidase und vermindert dadurch die Harnsäurebildung. Ob das Mittel bei asymptomatischer Hyperurikämie die Manifestation einer Gicht oder die Bildung von Harnsäuresteinen verhindert oder verzögert ist nicht gesichert. Bei manifester Gicht oder Uratnephropathie ist die Therapie notwendig.
