Relationship Between Psychopathological Syndromes Before and After Open-Heart Surgery

Psychopathological and Neurological Dysfunctions Following Open-Heart Surgery

Abstract

Generally most descriptions of psychopathological syndromes before and after open-heart surgery rely on clinical observation and the ability of the observer to record his findings in a skillful and accurate fashion. Within the Hamburg group [2, 4] an objective technique for rating psychopathology after open-heart surgery has been developed. As a consequence such syndromes, as well as their interrelationships, can be described in a fashion which is less subjective and is consonant with the highest standards of measurement in the social sciences.
